NASA is dreaming.

Laser and solar power are more interesting alternative fuel choices for spacecraft.

And you have to love the flying space robots. We’ve been waiting for those..

    I’m surprised the article did not mentioned amat-catalyzed fusion as a means of propulsion without having to produce large amounts of antimatter. Laser and solar power might be a more practical solution for propulsion, at least in the near term, but I wouldn’t call them more interesting, especially if we are interested in interstellar exploration.

    And if your talking about fuel choices for interplanetary spacecraft, what about VASIMR? That seems more likely then traveling the solar system by solar sail or laser propulsion.
