Two asteriods collide, one is wiped out, the other, a porous rock, is damaged, but a large chunk of it survived intact.  The particles from the wiped out asteriod are attracted back by the large chunk&#039;s gravity.  You end up with an asteriod that is sandy on the outside, with a porous chunk on the inside.

Maybe this happened recently enough that it hasn&#039;t had a chance to either break apart or condense further.]]></description>
