Bottled water gives you greater control?! No it doesn't. It just transfers your trust and the control form the municipal water supply at the other end of your faucet to a commercial enterprise somewhere else.

Any municipal gov't worth it's salt would ban the purchase of bottled water other than it'sown. (and in many municipalities they can't bottle their own water and sell it- to do so would violate their right to the water use )

I think bottled water at a certain level is straightforward. It gives the imbiber greater control over what they drink. And unlike some tap water, the taste is consistent and pleasant.

As far as sushi goes, it is a distinctive meal. The whole experience, flavor, and texture is unlike any other US meal. It is a little burst of variety to help knock us out of routine.

heh - I remember thinking "what idiot would spend money on bottled water when it was free from every tap in town". I still can't quite wrap my head around that one...but I was dead wrong - bottled water sold like crazy.

Like the dopants in silicon that make things flow, I think there's a "dopey variable" out there that keeps things interesting and hopping (ref:Pet Rocks)...and just weird enough to keep us rational folks from being able to cash in :-) Great Post Phil!
