In the US, only 20% of males and 10% of females over the age of 65, still work. What’s interesting is that this rate hasn’t changed much in the past few decades despite the improving health of people in this age bracket.

My take is that age discrimination isn’t going to last once you have a growing competent older workforce out there and a dwindling young workforce.

Most companies I’m familiar with are quite happy to lose their older experienced employees in favor of younger (and cheaper) ones. I’m not sure I see any chance of that changing in the near future.
